Common questions
What is this reflection?
A short, private set of twelve questions to help you see where you are on the way to Confession: how long it has been, what holds you back, what weighs on you and what you long for. At the end it reads your answers back to you through a figure of the Gospels and suggests one first step.
Are my answers saved or shared?
No. The reflection runs entirely in your browser: your answers are not sent to Confession Compass or to anyone else, and nothing is kept once you leave the page. Starting a journey afterwards is a separate, private step that you choose.
Can this tell me whether I am in a state of grace?
No. No quiz can say whether a sin was mortal or what the state of your soul is: that discernment belongs to you and your priest. This reflection only helps you notice what is on your heart, so that you can bring it to God and to Confession.
Can I go to Confession if I have not been in years?
Yes, and you will be welcome. Tell the priest roughly how long it has been and that you would like his help; he will guide you through it. Our guide to confession after many years explains how to prepare, what to say and what to expect.
